SAN FERNANDO – ”Pasko na naman sa San Fernando” and most people display the mood of love, joy, merriment, generosity, and harmony during this Yuletide season because the good news that Christmas season brings is priceless.
The joy of the thought that it is about the birth of God’s son – JESUS CHRIST our Savior is just wonderful.
Being saved from the quagmire of the worldly sin is so precious and beyond compare.
He came to give us love, hope, and joy. This message to humanity does not change from year after year.
To influence a lasting joy, harmony, and unity among the people of San Fernando, Bukidnon, the Local Government Unit of San Fernando steered by the Local Chief Executive, Hon. Rogelio C. Yeke, holds the Christmas merriment with a theme, “A season to embrace Hope, Blessing and Peace”.
Several Christmas activities are lined up for the people to enjoy. On the twilight of December 1, 2023, a kick-off ceremony was held by holding a short program before the lighting ceremony commenced.
Lighting of Christmas lights include all the three main buildings of Executive, Legislative and Judiciary alongside with all entries of the Parols/lanterns radiating psychedelic hues which enlightened the atmosphere making it so bright beating the darkness in the vicinity as its opening salvo.
Ensuing the lighting of the Christmas lights is the fireworks display. Right after it, playing of the live band started with the lively participation from the audience.
Battle of the Bands, open category was presented on December 2, 2023, held at the municipal gymnasium under the care of the Municipal General Services Office with Eddie B. Tagaloguin, Jr., Head of Office as the focal person to this event.
An Open Tournament of Mobile Legend Bangbang game is held on the following schedules: December 1-2-8-15-& 16, 2023 to be directed at Night Café area at Quirino St. Purok 6, Halapitan, San Fernando, Bukidnon.
A singing contest exclusive for all San Fernando residents is staged on December 9, 2023, at the same venue where the Mobile Legend game is presented.
Inter-School Christmas Dance contest participated by all teachers from the different schools of the municipality will be shown on December 14, 2023, at the municipal gymnasium.
Judging the Parol Fest competition which is categorized into two (2) the Inter-Barangay and Inter-Establishment will be assessed and judged on December 15, 2023.
Considering that San Fernando is a place of multi-religious populace, an inter-church choral contest is included in the merriment of the season making the occasion more meaningful signifying unity among its constituents.
This is presented on December 15, 2023, at the municipal gymnasium.
Simultaneous with the above activity, an Open Christmas Dance competition is likewise held on the same venue.
Entertainment night with the band, ‘’No Matter Band” will be staged on December 7-14-16-21, 2023 at the Night Café area, Quirino St.
Highlight of the Christmas celebration is the Local Government Unit (LGU) employees’ party on December 21, 2023, to commence at 9:00 o’clock in the morning in the municipal gymnasium coupled with the entertainment of the acrobat and the magical show.
To conclude all the jollities of the season, a closing and awarding ceremony is held on December 22, 2023, at the Municipal Grounds in the morning and a fireworks display would be navigated in the evening followed right after with the playing of the live band to the joy and delight of the whole populace of San Fernando.
Our salute to the LGU-SF and all agencies in navigating all these Christmastide activities resulting to a resounding success for the joy of its constituents.
Above all, celebrating this Yuletide season is not merely enjoyment of the psychedelic and glittering physical lights and other enthralling entertainment but a reminder for everyone that the true source of light that outsmarts all power of darkness is JESUS CHRIST our Savior.
He is the light of the world who reminds us to be lights to others and to help others come unto HIM thus embracing love, hope, blessing, and peace into everybody’s hearts.
